Living In Bhubaneswar

Living in Bhubaneswar

The City View

  • From  the past year I'm residing in Bhubaneswar leaving the city of Palaces my home city Kolkata. After passing my Higher Secondery Examinations I sat for The KIIT Entrance Exam & I was elected for my choicable stream that is Film & Media Science. Since then I'm living in the capital city of Orissa--  Bhubaneswar.  Well I stay in the Girl's Hostel here in KIIT  under strict vigilence of the Hostel authority so oppurtinities are few to roam around the city & enjoy  the city. The city is small but more or less neat & clean & is a well planned city. I go out with my friends sometimes & whenever we travel through bus we get to  have a picturesque view of the roads bounded by mountains & planned as well as decorative buildings. The city is good to live in as it is not so conjusted & crowdy like the big Metropoliton cities. Well the city is nice but compared to my home city it rather looks like  a village with much less transport communication , shops & all other developments. There were times when I landed in problems in availing certain useful things which are easily availabe in Kolkata & also the bus system. Here from the KIIT campus there are a very few buses that travel  & those also are time oriented but in our city there are emple of  buses available at any time to travel to any part of the city. Moreover taxis are also  not available here where as in Kolkata a fleet of taxis always move around the city. Living style of this city is also a bit costlier compared to my city as tings which are available in Kolkta at a lesser price here it takes nearly double that cost.  Bhubaneswar is still a developing city & in near in future it will be a beautiful & planned city under the strong hold of  Orissa's Chief Minister Sri Naveen Pattanaik. Corruption is there in every nook & corner of the country but In my state corruption has increased a lot for the past couple of years. Rape case is a everyday feature in Kolkata but in Bhubaneswar the rate was less but recently these problems are rapidly growing. Well the places of interest in Bhubaneswar are worthy to attract the tourists. Till now I've gone to Udaygiri-Khandagiri, Nandankanan, Inox & some other places. The number & standard of malls are in no way in competition with Kolkata. Being a pure Bengalee I'm taking time to adapt the type of food here in Bhubaneswar which is not upto the mark according to me. Bhubaneswar this year is having generally  a dry cilmate  which is making the weather more intolerable. Well my world is limited nearby our campus in KIIT so I know very less about the city. One problem that we face everyday here is hours of power cut which is very rare in Kolkata . There are many goods & bads in  evry places but then also  we continue to persist with all those things when we have no other options but to adjust. Anyways it is ok to live in Bhubaneswar but  still also I'm not in love with this city. Kolkata is still my city of Dreams & I really love my own home city from the core of my heart  which I'm also trying to feel for Bhubaneswar  but  may be it will take time.
